Using websites

The creation of websites for all manner of purposes is widespread. I appreciate their general communication ability and familiarity for most users. In an e-learning context, their usefulness may be limited by the availability of more learning specific tools.

  1. I appreciate what you say Michael, but if you will, can you give an example of how YOU would use it in YOUR classroom? For example, if I were to use it in one of the classes I had at Springsure (Year 10, IPT), I would have the students document the learning journey they have gone through so far this year using Lego NXT robotics, and the potential uses they see for this tool. Then I would have them document the learning journey they are going to take the Prep students through later this year, and why. I would then have them document it as they go, and discuss what is going well and what needs changing. Then I would have them evaluate the site once they're finished, and reflect on what they have learnt. Now this is only a rough idea at the moment, and is more indicative of a blog or wiki than a website, but I hope you get the general gist of one of the uses I can see for a website.
